Juvenile-onset Adult (JOA) Program
Myotonic dystrophy (DM) symptoms get worse as affected people get older. As a result, adults living with DM sometimes isolate themselves
Our Juvenile-onset Adult (JOA) DM program aims to bring these adults living with DM together with support, resources and social opportunities. The program includes:
- Private Facebook Group
- Monthly Facebook Chat
- Camp JOA
- NEW! Guide for Caregivers of Adults Affected by Juvenile-onset Myotonic Dystrophy: This Guide was developed as part of the comprehensive Juvenile-onset Adult support program, to help improve the quality of life of those affected by juvenile-onset DM and their caregivers. This Guide is specifically designed to help families affected by juvenile-onset DM understand how to manage their lives, especially at transition points in development and education.
- NEW! JOA Warriors - Virtual Meeting. You are invited to a virtual meeting for the Juvenile-onset Adult Community! Re-connect with friends and make new connections in this welcoming and inclusive community on the 3rd Tuesday of every month.
