Board member Todd Stone's two sons were diagnosed with myotonic dystrophy in 2006. Shortly after their diagnosis, he and the boys' mother Edibell began raising money for research through a non-profit called the Stone Circle of Friends. They raised nearly $300,000 for medical research at the University of Virginia.
Todd also told the family's DM story to his former law professor and then-governor of Virginia Tim Kaine. Senator Kaine, who was elected to the US Senate representing Virginia in 2012, not only became a driving force in the success of the Stone Circle of Friends, but also serves on the MDF Board of Directors.
Recognizing the need for one strong organization to serve our cause, Todd, who is an attorney and owns a defense firm in downtown Richmond, VA, retired the Stone Circle of Friends and now focuses his DM advocacy efforts through MDF. In addition to his law practice, Todd regularly appears on TV as the legal analyst for WTVR CBS 6. He earned a B.S. from East Carolina University, and his law degree and M.B.A. from the University of Richmond.
Todd and his sons live in Richmond and all of his advocacy efforts are driven by his love for his two wonderful children.
